One person has died after an accident at the entrance of the Brynglas Tunnels this morning.
Gwent Police say the driver, a 67-year-old man from the Cardiff area, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The accident involved one vehicle, which collided with a wall and an electrical sub-station.
Police say work to recover the vehicle and debris has now been completed and the Eastbound M4 has reopened but congestion remains very heavy in the area.
Anyone who may have witnessed the collision is asked to contact Gwent Police by dialling 101.
