Street drinking ban in force in Llanelli

Drinking in public places has been banned across a large part of Llanelli town centre in a bid to tackle alcohol related anti-social behaviour.

It's the first Designated Public Place Order in Carmarthenshire and covers an area including Elli, Tyisha and Glanymor.

It's not an offence to drink alcohol in these areas, but police can ask people to stop, or to surrender any alcohol.

Under this new order, people who don't co-operate with the police can face a fine of up to £500.
