Anglesey council deal struck

Welsh Labour sources have confirmed that its councillors on Anglesey have reached a deal to form an administration with Independent members. The deal was approved by the party's governing body, the National Executive Committee.

Independents draw level with Plaid Cymru

With only four seats left to declare:

  • Plaid Cymru 11 seats
  • Independents 11 seats
  • Labour 3 seats
  • Lib Dems 1 seat

One of the latest independents to win a seat is Jeff Evans, who has been Town Mayor of Holyhead three times. He gave up a job with Anglesey council to stand in the Ynys Gybi (Holy Island) ward and make the case that independents as well as party politicians could offer the county a fresh start.
