News that hundreds of jobs have been safeguarded in Old Colwyn is being welcomed. Daniel Contractors has gone into administration but Dwr Cymru Welsh Water has appointed another company to take over the work.
It is excellent news that Enterprise Utility Services has been appointed by Dwr Cymru and as a result job losses at Daniel Contractors have been averted.
I know that the staff will welcome this certainty over there future and I am grateful for the swift appointment of this contract by Dwr Cymru.
We have been monitoring Daniels’ financial and trading position for a number of months and have taken steps to support them. In parallel to this we have also sought to protect the interest of our customers and have been running a procurement process to appoint alternative suppliers should the situation with Daniel deteriorate.
On this basis we have appointed Enterprise Utility Services as an emergency contractor to undertake the contract.
They have been selected through a competitive process and have a five month contract with us as part of this emergency contingency arrangement.
