Cardiff City began life in the Premier League with defeat, after losing 2-0 away to West Ham United.
The Bluebirds enjoyed more possession than the home side over the 90 minutes, but it was Joe Cole who put the Hammers ahead with a 13th minute strike, before Kevin Nolan found the back of the net in the 76th minute.
Cardiff City will be hoping their home fans can give them a boost in their next league fixture, when they host Manchester City on 25 August.
