Cardiff Blues' artificial pitch makes Welsh rugby history

Fans watching the game took to the artificial pitch after the game to help bed it in

Cardiff Blues have made Welsh rugby history by playing on their new artificial pitch, beating Sale Sharks 45-24 in a pre-season friendly.

The Welsh region invested in the synthetic surface after a series of mud-affected matches at the Arms Park.

Around 7,000 fans watched the game. They were asked to walk on the pitch after the match to help bed it in.
