Hundreds of mining families attend Merthyr event

For years, the coal industry dominated the South Wales Valleys and was at the heart of many communities. Despite its sharp decline in the mid 1980s, its impact on former miners and their families is still felt today.

One charity that supports those people is the Coal Industry Social Welfare Organisation.

Today, it hosted almost six hundred people at an event in Merthyr Tydfil.
