Newport shooting: More time granted to question man

Police are continuing to question a 22-year-old man on suspicion of attempted murder in connection with an incident in Chepstow Road in Newport last Tuesday.

The man, from Newport, was arrested on Friday morning and magistrates granted a warrant of further detention last night.

A 24-year-old Newport man, arrested on suspicion of attempted murder on Thursday, has been bailed.

Two Cardiff men, aged 22 and 24, arrested on suspicion of drugs offences, were bailed last week.

Officers are continuing to make enquiries to locate the firearm used in the incident, as well as a dark coloured 4x4 jeep type vehicle that was seen driving along Chepstow Road and onto Beechwood Road in the direction of St Julians and Christchurch.
