Two new arrests in historical abuse investigation

Two more men have been arrested by officers investigating recent allegations of historical abuse in care homes in North Wales.

A 69-year-old man was arrested in Wrexham on suspicion of child cruelty offences against six boys. The offences are alleged to have taken place between 1975 and 1981, when the boys were aged between nine and 14.

A 61-year-old man was arrested in Beeston, Nottinghamshire, on suspicion of child cruelty against a boy. The offence is alleged to have taken place in 1978, when the boy was around nine years old.

The two men will be taken to local police stations and interviewed by officers from Operation Pallial.

Ten people have now been arrested as part of the investigation.

One person has been charged with a large number of serious sexual offences.
