The Holyhead coastguard is advising people to take extra care if they decide to take a look at the stormy sea. "You could be putting your life at risk but also the lives of the rescue services as well," said a spokesman.

Today, the Met Office recorded a gust of wind in Aberdaron, in west Wales, of 109mph early this morning.

Meanwhile, National Rail said Arriva Trains Wales services between Holyhead and Llandudno Junction were delayed and East Coast trains were running at a reduced speed of 50mph across large parts of the network due to the storm.
