2014 set to be a sporting year to remember in Wales

Sport Wales says 2014 will be a sporting year to remember as Welsh athletes will compete against some of the world's best at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.

The Queen's Baton Relay route will make its way through Wales this year, visiting several close-knit community events, iconic landmarks and large multi-sport festivals during its times here.

It's a huge year for Wales. The Games are on our doorstep and the Welsh team is set to be the largest ever.

We have the opportunity to make a difference. Just like London 2012, the Games in Glasgow will give us a window of opportunity to use the profile and success of such a great sporting event to inspire out children to be fit, active and healthy.

In classrooms and playgrounds across Wales there are children who will always remember their first experience of sport - let's make sure it is a quality one, packed full of fun and activity which will build a confidence for sport to become part of everyday life.
