Major search after suspected plane crash 'stood down'

A major air and sea search operation near Fishguard, Pembrokeshire has been 'stood down'. The search was launched amid reports that a plane may have crashed. Residents in Trefin reported two fast jets flying low overhead just after 7pm.

Police initially received calls from 'concerned public'

The emergency services received reports from concerned members of the public at approximately 7.10pm last night that a low flying aircraft may have been in trouble over Trefin in Pembrokeshire. A search of the area was undertaken by local Inshore Lifeboats and Search & Rescue helicopter. Enquires made revealed that a military training exercise had been conducted in the area at the time and all was in order. The search was then stood down.
