More severe weather is on its way after Wednesday's storm which left thousands without electricity.

Scottish Power says around 13 and a half thousand customers are still cut off.

The company says the bad weather caused hazardous working conditions and hampered the recovery operation.

It's drafted in more contractors and engineers to restore supplies.

After Wednesday's hurricane force winds the Met Office now has a 'be aware' warning for rain and temporary blizzard conditions for snow on higher ground.
