Soldiers repatriated following Afghanistan helicopter crash

Five UK service personnel have been repatriated to RAF Brize Norton. Welsh soldiers Captain Thomas Clarke and Lance Corporal Oliver Thomas were killed alongside three colleagues after a Lynx helicopter crashed in southern Afghanistan on April 26.

Mother of soldier killed in crash speaks of pride

The mother of one of the two Welsh serviceman killed in a helicopter crash in southern Afghanistan last month has spoken of her pride and love for him.

26-year-old Lance Corporal Oliver Thomas died when the Lynx helicopter he was in came down during a routine flight in the Kandahar province.

Jo Thomas was speaking ahead of the repatriation of all five servicemen killed, which will take place this afternoon.

30-year-old Captain Thomas Clarke from Cowbridge also died in the incident.

"We loved and adored Oliver dearly and are truly numbed at his death but we know what he was doing was worthwhile and something he loved, which makes us all very proud." - Jo Thomas.
