Wales marks the centenary of World War One

August 4th 2014 marks 100 years since the outbreak of World War One. Millions of soldiers from Wales and the rest of the UK enlisted to fight in the conflict, which lasted for four years between 1914 and 1918.

Penarth library helps remember 300 WW1 soldiers

A library in Penarth in the Vale of Glamorgan is helping to piece together the stories of locals who died in the First World War.

It's estimated over 300 soldiers from Penarth died on the battlefield.

Marcus Payne, the local librarian says his research allowed him to uncover a lot of personal detail about the individuals who were injured or died during the war.

4 August marks one hundred years since the outbreak of World War One.
