Figures given to ITV News show that young adult carers are two and a half times more likely to not be in education and miss or cut short almost 10 school weeks a year because of their caring role.
We meet one young carer who is raising awareness of the pressures she and hundreds of others like her are under.

16-year-old Luke Shaw has been a carer for most of his life and looks after his mother and sister.
