A man who injured his hip and leg while abseiling down a gully was stretchered off a Snowdonia peak by Ogwen Valley and RAF Valley mountain rescue teams overnight.

A coastguard rescue helicopter from Caernarfon was unable to reach him on Craig yr Ysfa because of strong winds.

The helicopter instead flew rescuers to the base of the climb and the man was carried to a team vehicle and then transferred to an ambulance.
