Conservatives lose control of Gloucester City Council

At the local elections in Gloucester the Conservatives have lost control of the council to "no overall control". Labour gained one seat and the Conservatives lost one. 10 seats in total were being contested on the council.

The make-up of the council is now: Conservative 18, Labour: 9, Liberal Democrats: 9.

A third of seats are also being contested in Stroud. However, counting is due to begin at 9 O'clock on Friday morning, with a result due later today. The council is currently under "no overall control".
