Alternatives to Somerset pylon plans

Campaigners are walking up a Somerset peak today to raise awareness of plans by the National Grid to install huge pylons across the county’s countryside. The company is currently considering whether power lines should be placed underground to protect areas of outstanding natural beauty such as the Mendip Hills.

As National Grid is currently considering possible areas for undergrounding, we feel it is vitally important to raise the profile of the Mendip Hills and Somerset Levels now, before these protected and precious landscapes are devastated by these giant pylons

The walk along Crook Peak begins at 11am. Tessa Munt the Liberal Democrat MP for Wells, will join National Grid representatives, County Councillors and Conservation groups for the walk.
