A post-mortem examination on on 35-year-old Ceri Fuller has established that he died from multiple injuries consistent with falling from a height.
The bodies of Mr Fuller and his three children, Sam, 12, Rebecca, eight and Charlotte, seven, were found by a disused quarry near Shrewsbury on Monday evening. Post mortems on the children showed all three died from stab injuries and a knife has been recovered from the scene.
Police are continuing their inquiries into what is a murder investigation in both Shropshire and at the family's home area near the Forest of Dean in Gloucestershire.
West Mercia Police are working closely with police in Gloucestershire to try to establish what happened.
They are speaking to family members and are trying to identify the route taken by Mr Fuller in when he left the family home on Wednesday night or Thursday morning. They are also trying to establish what link Mr Fuller had with Shropshire.
An inquest into the four deaths is expected to open next week.
