Marcus Trescothick took centre stage at Taunton today. The 36 year old made the 50th first-class century of his career on the second day of Somerset's County Championship Division One game against Sussex. Trescothick, resuming on 89, quickly added the 11 runs he needed to reach the landmark. He's playing only his eighth innings of the season and has struggled since his return after three months out with an ankle injury.
The innings should do his confidence the power of good. He'd made only eight runs in three championship innings going into his match. This is his 20th season with the Cidermen. He made made his first-class debut in 1993, and has played for England in 76 Testsand 123 one-day games.
