Thousands of tributes paid to woman found in burning car
Tributes are being paid to 23-year-old Catherine Wells-Burr whose body was found in a burning car in Ashill near Ilminster on Wednesday morning.
A Facebook group has been set up in memory of Catherine which has attracted over four thousand members in the space of 12 hours.
On the site she has been described as "a lovely kind girl who had time for everyone" and as someone who would "go out of her way to help".
Her body was found inside a burning red Ford Focus car in a field off the A358 near Ilminster. Police have now launched a murder enquiry and are seriously investigating whether Catherine may have known her killer.
The police officer in charge of the investigation has described the death of the 23-year-old as a "tragic and brutal" incident.
– DETECTIVE CHIEF INSPECTOR SIMON CRISP, AVON AND SOMERSET POLICEA full investigation is underway and we are working tirelessly to identify the offender or offenders who committed this crime. There are many lines of enquiry that we are examining; one of those is that this may not have been a random attack and that Catherine knew her killers or killer. We now need to build up a picture of Catherine's life and I would appeal to anyone who knew her or of her to come forward and contact us. I can assure you we will find those responsible and bring them to justice.
Catherine worked for Chard-based company Numatic International and was a graduate of Bath Spa University. Her old school Hoolyrood Academy, led the tributes describing her as a "very friendly girl.
