A teacher aiming to dance the length of the country is recovering after being knocked down as he danced along a road in Somerset.
Ben Hammond suffered concussion and his support rider was also injured when they were struck by a car on the A39 in Polsham late on Wednesday night.
The 34 year old, from Bradford-on-Avon in Wiltshire, had just left Wells when the accident happened.
With his friend Alice Tanswell riding a support tricycle behind, the pair were passing the Camelot Inn at Polsham, when they were struck by a passing car.
Both were taken to Yeovil Hospital, with Alice discharged and Ben kept in overnight.
The future of Ben’s mission to dance from John O'Groats to Land's End is now uncertain.
The teacher had been in the final fortnight of his epic challenge, which has seen him dancing the length of the UK in a neon yellow tutu.
A 25-year-old woman from Wookey in Somerset has since been arrested and charged with drink driving, failing to stop at the scene of an accident and failing to report an accident. Alanna Rugg has been bailed to appear before South Somerset magistrates on October 19.
