Remembrance Sunday

Dozens of ceremonies and services have been held across the region to mark Remembrance Sunday. At 11 o'clock tens of thousands of people fell silent to remember those killed in action.

Wreaths of remembrance were placed on the war memorial on the High Street of Royal Wootton Bassett, where a service of remembrance and two minutes silence was observed. The Wiltshire town became synonoymous with the repatriation of fallen service personnel.

Bristol saw the the biggest Armistice Day Parade and Service in the South West. Thousands surrounded the Cenotaph to pay their respects to those who've paid the ultimate sacrifice in the service of their country.
