The family of a soldier killed while serving with Dorset-based The Royal Corps of Signals have paid tribute to him. Warrant Officer Class 2 (WO2) Leonard Perran Thomas, 45, was killed alongside two colleagues on Sunday (July 1st).

Pez was a military man through and through. He thrived in extreme environments, both in the military and in his spare time. He was a keen climber and mountaineer and will be sorely missed by everyone who had the privilege to have met him.

Major Andy Cox from Task Force Helmand in Afghanistan has released the following statement after the deaths of three soldiers at a checkpoint in Helmand Province:
A soldier from the Royal Corps of Signals based at Blandford Camp in Dorset has been killed in Afghanistan.
Two soldiers from the 1st Battalion Welsh Guards also died in the incident at a check point in the Nahr-e-Saraj district of Helmand Province.
The soldiers’ families have been informed.
