People who are against building an £500 million waste incinerator at Javelin Park near Gloucester are gathering at the site.

Councillors from Gloucestershire County Council's planning committee are due to visit the site this morning. The protestors have flown a balloon 70 meters high to show what they say will be the height of the incinerator chimney.

Around 80 campaigners are protesting outside Shire Hall in Gloucester over plans for a waste incinerator to the south of the city.

They are taking action before a meeting to discuss the plans, which would see a waste plant at Javelin Park. Locals say it would ruin the landscape of the area and threaten people's health.
