A farmer who breeds bison and elk in Somerset says it is lucky no-one was killed after thieves cut through fences on his land. Paul Richards lost six female deer but says if the bison had escaped it could have ended in tragedy. Here's our Somerset correspondent, David Woodland.

Seven elk have been stolen from a farm in Somerset, possibly for their meat.

Farmer Paul Richards says thieves cut a hole in a fence at Woodentop Farm, near West Coker. He says it is lucky no-one was killed.

If his bison had escaped it could have ended in tragedy. It's the second time his farm has been raided in the past 18 months.
