The Mayor of Malmesbury has told us he lived in the town all his life and this is the worst he has ever seen it. Some residents were evacuated from their homes at 3am, others stayed but had to be rescued by fire crews early in the morning.
Resident Jenny Whitby talks of the moment water came in to her house leaving everything flooded. She's one of the many victims of the Malmesbury floods today and says if it keeps happening, she 'can't stay'.
The water is just outside the door. It's gone down a lot but I'm trying to get hold of some sandbags because more rain is forecast for later today. Houses across the road have been flooded to a depth of three or four feet, with furniture floating around in the rooms.
I've been here 14 years and there were floods in 2000 and again in 2007 but this is much worse than either of those."
