Missing Student From Stroud

Police are searching for a 20-year-old man who has been missing since Sunday morning. George Ford, a student at Nottingham University, hasn't been seen since leaving his family home in Slad Road in Stroud.

George Ford's death to remain a mystery

The death of a student whose body was found in a river in Gloucestershire will remain a mystery, an inquest heard today.

20 year old George Ford from Stroud disappeared a week before Christmas last year.

Tests on his body found traces of cannabis and benzodiazepine drugs which he bought over the internet.

The coroner has today recorded an open verdict and said it was impossible to determine how George came to die in the River Frome.

Police have made a fresh appeal for information on George Ford, who went missing from his home in Stroud.

George left his home on Slad Road at around 3am on Sunday morning.

The 20 year old Nottingham University student is around 6ft 1ins tall, with brown, wavy shoulder length hair.

He was last seen wearing a green t-shirt with ‘Hitchhike Morocco’ on the front, grey combat trousers, a brown satchel bag and black DC trainers with blue detail.

Police discovered a body at around 3pm yesterday in the River Frome between Wallbridge and Cainscross.

Formal identification of the body is expected to take place early next week.

Police are keen to trace his movements between 3am and 9am on Sunday December 16.

Anyone with information that could help the investigation should call police on 101 quoting incident 315 of December 18.

Police are to resume their search for a missing student in Stroud. George Ford, who's 20. hasn't been seen since he left his family home in the town early on Sunday. A helicopter was brought in to look for signs for him and divers searched the Stroudwater canal close to Wallbridge.
