All this week, ITV is running a campaign to raise awareness of organ donation. Tonight on ITV News West Country we are hearing from a woman with good reason to back our campaign.

Kirstie Tancock's life was saved when she had a double lung transplant and we've been following her story and her bid to sign up more people to the register.

FROM THE HEART: 30 times more people sign up

Since ITV launched its From the Heart Campaign on Monday - to raise awareness of organ donation issues - thirty times the usual number of people have signed up the UK organ donor register.

Tonight on ITV News West Country at 6pm, we hear the heartbreaking story of a man who's daughter died because she couldn't get a transplant quickly enough. He now campaigns for more people to sign up as donors.

ITV's From the Heart campaign - another special report tonight

All this week ITV is running a big campaign to raise awareness of organ donation. This week on ITV West Country we are hearing both from donor families and the patients whose lives have been transformed by organ donations, as well as the health professionals involved.

523 people in the South West are currently waiting for a transplant. On tonight's West Country News at 6, we visit the Transplant Duty Office in Bristol, whose job it is to make sure organs get to the right donor in time; hey have to move super fast at a moment's notice.
