Swindon Town's new manager

Swindon Town Football Club have announced Kevin MacDonald as their new manager. The 52-year-old replaces Paolo Di Canio who resigned 10 days ago.

MacDonald: "I cannot wait to get cracking"

Swindon Town's new manager Kevin MacDonald says he "cannot wait to get cracking" following his appointment. The 52-year-old has been a coach at Aston Villa, and was caretaker manager of the club for eight games in 2010 after Martin O'Neill's departure.

The Club is in a good position in League One but the players and everyone connected with the team now have to apply themselves to achieve the best possible finish to this season and beyond.

MacDonald will be introduced to the media after training on Friday at The County Ground.

Collins hails 'great appointment' at STFC

Former Aston Villa striker James Collins says he is looking for is looking forward to working with Kevin MacDonald again following the Scotsman’s appointment at The County Ground as the club's new manager.

I have worked with him before and I think it is a great appointment for the Club.Kevin will do well for Swindon Town and I know what he’s about. He is a great coach and I first met him when I was 14-years old in the youth system at Aston Villa. I played under him for the Villa reserves and he will get the best out of the players.

Swindon Chairman 'delighted' to appoint MacDonald

Swindon Town's Chairman Jed McCrory says he is delighted, following appointment of Kevin MacDonald as the club's new manager:

Kevin has fantastic football credentials as a Double-winner with Liverpool during his playing days and he is an excellent coach. Swindon Town Football Club have announced Kevin MacDonald as their new manager.

The 52-year-old has been a coach at Aston Villa, and was caretaker manager of the club for eight games in 2010 after Martin O'Neill's departure.

As a player, MacDonald was a midfielder for Leicester and Liverpool in the 1980s.
