Drivers using Bristol's Clifton Suspension Bridge could soon be paying double the toll to cross. The Department of Transport will be holding a public inquiry to raise the toll from 50 pence to a pound.

The Clifton Suspension Bridge Trust say the extra funds will help pay for the maintenance of the bridge which will be 150 years old in 2014. The Trust says regular users will still get a discounted price with a pre-paid cash card.
