The Royal United Hospital Bath has been criticised in a report by the Care Quality Commission.
The independent regulator says the hospital must take action to ensure that its services can cope safely at times of peak demand.
The Royal United Hospital has responded to the critical report from the Care Quality Commission. It says it was facing unprecedented pressure at the time of the inspection and had no choice but to use the day care unit for patients because there were no available beds in the hospital.
