Bristol mayor George Ferguson wants to switch fixed speed cameras back on in the city.
They were switched off in 2011 after the government stopped funding the Safety Camera Partnership.
If they're reinstated it would require the help of Avon and Somerset Police, which would have to process any fines. The Mayor wants a decison made within the next six months.
