Cameras guard recycling sites

Cameras at recycling sites in Bath and North East Somerset will monitor car number plates to keep non-residents from using them. Local people will have to register their cars and get a permit.

The recycling centres that will become locals-only

From tomorrow (Tuesday 2 April) the following recycling centres will be technically closing to non-residents of Bath and North East Somerset:

  • Pixash, Keynsham
  • Midland Road, Bath
  • Old Welton, Radstock

The scheme will implemented gradually, however. For the first few months, staff will be allowed to use their discretion in letting non-registered people use the sites.

Cameras to keep non-residents out of recycling centres

Cameras will monitor car number plates using 3 recycling centres in Bath and North East Somerset, to keep non-residents from using them. Local people will have to register their cars in order to get a permit.

Bath and North East Somerset Council says it cannot afford to deal with rubbish produced by people who live elsewhere. The scheme starts tomorrow (Tuesday 2 April).
