Plans for more than 300 homes on a popular green space in Taunton have tonight been approved by councillors.
Taunton Deane Borough Council's planning committee voted 8 to 7 in favour of the Vivary Green Wedge development.
Hundreds of people turned out to protest against the scheme.

Developers want to build more than 300 homes on the Vivary Green Wedge extending from Taunton's town centre.
Taunton Deane Borough Council's planners have recommended the scheme for approval. The planning committee is expected to make a final decision tonight.

Developers want to build more than three hundred homes on the Vivary Green Wedge extending from Taunton's Town Centre. A previous application for six hundred homes on the site was thrown out.
More than 800 people have written to the council objecting to the scheme.
