Preparations are underway for the 27th Bristol International Kite Festival which takes place this weekend, 31 August to 1 September


Bristol Mayor's trouser kite revealed

Bristol Mayor George Ferguson will try out his newest pair of red trousers in the form of a kite created especially for him by renowned kite maker Martin Lester.

Mr Ferguson will meet kite flyers from home and abroad, with their amazing selection of colourful, special-shaped kites and air creations, on Bristol's Durdham Downs as they prepare for this weekend's Bristol International Kite Festival at Ashton Court.

The Mayor's special creation is a pair of 'flying jogging legs'.

Cornish kite maker prepares for international festival

A kite maker from Cornwall is putting the last minute touches to his design, ahead of this weekend's Bristol Kite Festival.

Martin Lester has been making his famous 'leg' kites, which are synonymous with the festival, at his workshop near Bodmin for the last 30 years.

What started out as a hobby has now become a thriving business and Martin has sold around 6,000 pairs.
