Teachers attend mass rally in Bristol on strike day

Teachers have been taking part in a mass protest rally at Bristol's College Green today.

They're striking over proposals by Education Secretary Michael Gove to bring in performance-related pay, increase their workloads and make changes to their pensions.

Hundreds of schools across the West Country have been closed today.

One of those at the rally in Bristol today was Dr Patrick Roache, Deputy General Secretary of the teaching union, the NASUWT. He spoke to our reporter Richard Payne
