The city of Bristol holds its second Poppy Day

Special events are taking place around Bristol for the city's Poppy Day.

Volunteers will set up across the city to sell poppies for the Royal British Legion. Olive Cook, the oldest known poppy collector will be a special guest at the commemorations at Cabot Circus shopping centre. She is joined by the last surviving crew member of the Dambuster raids - Johnny Johnson.

Bristol has its first ever Poppy Day

The first ever Bristol Poppy Day was held today. Members of the armed forces and service veterans gathered in the city centre to take part.

Organisers say it's being held so future generations never forget the sacrifice made by those who've died or been seriously injured in wars over the years.

Bristol's Poppy Day

Members of the armed forces and service veterans are to gather at Cabot Circus in Bristol later this morning for the city's first ever Poppy Day.

It follows the success of a similar event in London which has raised the profile of the annual appeal.
