There's been an increase in the number of reported attacks on ambulance staff in the region. There were a hundred and four reports of physical abuse to front line crews last year, according to South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust.
They caused cuts, bruising and sprains as well as more serious injuries like dislocations and fractures. Seventy three cases were reported to the police and in twenty two cases the patient was arrested.
Police have issued an appeal for witnesses and information following the incident in London Road, Bath yesterday when an ambulance responding to an emergency call was in collision with a 12-year-old pedestrian.
The boy has suffered a head injury and remains in a serious but stable condition in hospital. Anyone who was in the area at the time and witnessed the collision is asked to police on 101. . Police have thanked motorists for their understanding while the road was closed last night.
