People in favour of a new Asda store at Cinderford have staged a march along the town's high street.

The Co-Op has taken legal action to block plans for the store. Forest of Dean District Council has backed the proposals.

A further planning application is to be considered in the New Year.

Residents in Cinderford are to stage a further protest in favour of a new Asda store later this morning. Last month nearly 200 people joined a demonstration against the local Co-Op's legal challenge against the development.

More than 1,400 people have signed up to a Facebook page backing the plans, which have been supported by Forest of Dean District Council. Mid-Counties Co-Op is seeking a judicial review. The Co-Op has previously seen off plans by Tesco to build in the town. Protesters plan to march at noon.
