Planning permission for the hospital was granted in 2008. Work on the new building began in March 2010 and it's due to open to the public at the end of the month. The hospital is part of the Hengrove Park Regeneration Project that will include a new Skills Academy, a sports and leisure centre.
Members of the public are getting the chance to look round the new South Bristol Community Hospital before it becomes a working hospital at the end of this month. It will provide a number of services including a Minor Injuries Unit and an out-of-hours GP service.
