Plans for the redevelopment of the Foxhill Estate – including the re-provision of up to 700 homes – have been approved by Bath & North East Somerset Council’s Development Management Committee.
The Committee voted in favour of the outline planning application by a vote of 5 to 4.
As this is an outline planning application, there will be further stages to provide more detail to each phase of the development.
Demolition work has begun to pull down the remains of houses destroyed in a gas explosion. Families were left homeless following the explosion on Rosehill Street in Cheltenham last week.

81-year-old Betty Hodgkiss was rescued from the remains of the house where the explosion occurred and is in a stable condition in hospital. The two neighbouring properties are being demolished.
Preparations have begun to demolish a hotel in Cornwall after it was destroyed by a fire earlier this week.
All but 16 of the Falmouth Beach Hotel's 120 rooms were completely gutted. The demolition will take place tomorrow.
