32 years after fighting in the Falklands, a war veteran from Weston-super-Mare has been presented with a South Atlantic Medal by the Prime Minister. It follows an extension of the qualifying criteria.

Previously only those who served before July 1982 were awarded the medal.

Clive Smith and 19 other veterans are the first to receive the medal since the eligibility was extended.

The South Atlantic Medal was given to nearly 30,000 soldiers.
