Chancellor to visit Bristol Bloodhound project HQ

The Chancellor George Osborne will visit the Bristol Bloodhound project in Avonmouth on Thursday.

Mr Osborne will meet the team behind a supersonic British car that aims to break the world land speed record.

Chancellor sees work on Swindon to Kemble railway

Spending public cash on improving an important rail link through Wiltshire can only happen because of savings elsewhere - that was the message from the Chancellor George Osborne today, during a visit to the region.

He was inspecting progress on a new £45 million section of track near Swindon. He also said he was "hopeful' that a new nuclear power station at Hinkley Point in Somerset could go ahead this year. Our political correspondent Bob Constantine reports
