Councillors have approved Gloucester City Football Club's planning application for a new stadium on its original site at Meadow Park.
The team have been without a permanent home since their ground was destroyed by floods in 2007.
They have been forced to share with other local sides ever since.
Cash-strapped Gloucester City Football Club faces relegation and eviction from the ground it uses by the end of the month unless it can settle debts. The Tigers owe three months' rent on Whaddon Road under their groundshare agreement with Cheltenham Town.
Unless they can pay by the end of March, the club will be relegated from Blue Square North in the Conference league. Gloucester chairman Nigel Hughes says the club has a total shortfall of around £40,000. More details here
