Police are appealing for the public's help after a prisoner absconded from Leyhill Open Prison in South Gloucestershire.
Albert Stanley was given a life sentence for murder in 1980. The 63 year old failed to return to the prison yesterday following a period of home leave in Surrey.
Anyone spotting Albert should not approach him but call the police.
Police are appealing for help in locating a 49 year old man who has escaped from Her Majesty's Prison, Leyhill.Brian O'Dell was last seen at the prison just before midday today, Wednesday 9th October.
He is a white male, 6ft 3ins tall, blue eyes, balding hair and was clean shaven.
He has a scar on the right side of his neck and a bulldog tattoo on his left forearm.
Police say O'Dell was in prison for violent offences and should not be approached by members of the public.
A search is underway for a man who has absconded from Leyhill Prison in South Gloucestershire.
Wayne Head, who's serving a lengthy sentence for a robbery he committed 6 years ago, went missing from the open prison over the weekend.
He was last seen boarding a train to Plymouth yesterday morning.
And it seems he's not the only one to leave - figures shown to ITV News West County reveal that dozens of inmates have walked out of Leyhill in recent years.
Since 2010, 81 prisoners have absconded, including 8 murderers, 1 rapist and 26 burglars. Most were recaptured within a few days, but one burglar is still at large.
The Ministry of Justice says things are improving, but the area's councillor says people living nearby are concerned.

Convicted rapist Adam Mark, who has been on the run after absconding from Leyhill Prison in South Gloucestershire, has been arrested by police.
Officers were called to Hambrook on the outskirts of Bristol after a tip-off from a member of the public who had seen their appeal.
Avon and Somerset Police have said that at this stage, they believe Adam Mark may still be in the Bristol area and that he also has links to Yorkshire and may possibly have travelled to other parts of the country.
He [Adam Mark] is serving a life sentence for a series of stranger sex attacks against women and children as young as 12.
He has also carried out robberies to fund his drug habit.
We know he had started using drugs again before he absconded from prison.We are doing all we can to can to locate Adam Mark and return him to prison.
We think he may still be in Bristol but we do not have confirmation of that so he could be anywhere in the country.
If you see him please don't approach him but contact the police immediately by calling 999."
A prisoner has absconded from HMP Leyhill in South Gloucestershire.
Adam Mark was last seen outside the reception area at the prison at 7.30pm on Tuesday and is thought to have left sometime between 7.30-9.30pm.
The 37 year old is serving a life sentence for abducting and raping a woman, attempting to abduct and rape two other women, and rape of a 12-year-old girl.
He is from West Yorkshire and has no connections with the Avon and Somerset police force area.
It is thought he may be travelling back to West Yorkshire.
Police have advised anyone spotting Adam Mark not to approach him but to call 999.
