A collection of Cornish maritime memorabilia has sold for £10,825 at auction in Penzance.The lots included 15th Century canon balls which were dredged from the River Fal. The collection was built up by the Newman family, who ran the Smugglers Cottage tea room on the Roseland Peninsula.

Eighty historic lots of maritime memorabilia from the Smuggler's Cottage at Tolverne are up for auction on March the 1st with a guide of £10,000. They include a chair thought to have been sat on by General Eisenhower before the D Day landings.
