1st shop in Mary Portas scheme opens in Tiverton

The first shop to open under the Portas Pilot scheme in Tiverton has been officially launched today. The town was awarded £100,000 from the Mary Portas fund to help regenerate its high street.

A pop-up shop for local artisans to sell their art and crafts has been opened in the town centre. Another shop is planned in the coming months on the site of what used to be a pub. Sue Griggs is the Chair of the Tiverton Portas Town Team.

The towns were awarded a share of the £1.2million High Street Innovation Fund, launched a year ago, as well as government support and access to retail guru Mary Portas following her review of the sector.
