Having arrived at the Bristol Old Vic, the Royal party are touring a photographic display of the refurbishment work that has recently been carried out. They will then watch a rehearsal of Peter Pan from the Royal Box before unveiling a plague to commemorate the re-opening.
One of the region's best loved and oldest theatres re-opens this week. The Bristol Old Vic has had a multimillion pound revamp. It's taken almost 4 years to complete. When it closed back in 2007 some people were worried it would be for good.
But now its Artistic Director says the oldest working theatre in the country has a brighter future than ever. And the makeover has revealed all sorts of historical treasures. Have a look at Tanya Mercer's report:
Bristol's Old Vic theatre opens its doors tonight for a party to mark the end of 18 months' refurbishment. Visitors will see the culmination of part of a multi-million pound project to restore the historic Georgian auditorium.
